About Turnin Rust
Small town business owners Wyatt and Lance Bush, team together to form Kravened Kustoms. A father and son duo scavenging the web along with the north east Texas woods in search of rusty relics. While buying and building on a budget they recreate and preserve hidden patina, giving each one a story of its own. Chasing their passion, they’re giving the past a future, saving lost dreams one vehicle at a time. With the help from God, nature, and BlalocK Media…… These guys are Turnin Rust.
At a young age I found myself interested in just about anything that was mechanical, started out with building low rider bikes with my dad, to working on go karts, restoring tractors in high school, to trying to keep my first car running an trying to fix it up with what little money I had at the time.
Graduate of Rivercrest high school in 2004, attended Wyotech in Laramie Wy, an then attended a BMW step program in Oxnard ca, to become a certified BMW technician. My family is from Bogata, an I have lived her all my lifer other than than the 2 years I attended college, love my small town an the people that live there.
I have a fascination for anything that’s weird an out of the ordinary, we started collecting old short school buses from the 50s a couple years back an started to become known as the bus boys, rather than the bush boys.. we like old milk delivery trucks, old cabover trucks, anything rusty an different is right up our alley.
We started our collection about about 2 years ago, when me an my dad Wyatt Bush went on a short bus that we wanted to build into a street rod.. I’ve always had a problem of once I start a “hunt” I can’t stop until I feel I’ve found most of them in the area.. so the one bus turned into 5 an then 5 to 10 lol.. now with a collection of over 50 different vehicles, all ranging in many different shapes an sizes. We’ve been buying an selling old vehicles for a little over a year now, with some included sales an purchases to some know names as Rick dale from TV show American restoration, gas monkey garage, as well as misfit garage.
We are not currently customizing vehicles for the public, we do build our own projects an sale them online, but due to limited space, we aren’t taking on any outside projects at the time, but do hope to be able to do so in the future.
Although most of our inventory is sold online auctions, If someone would like to contact us on a purchase of something we have they can call or text 903-219-7412 or reach us on Facebook on our Kravened Kustoms business page.. we would also like to hear from anybody that has or knows of something that they think we might be interested in buying.
I was born on November 30th, 1964 to Pat and Larry Bush. I was taught basic mechanical skills by my father who was an auto mechanic, but it was my mother that taught me to do things to the best of my abilities. I was a 1983 Rivercrest High School graduate. I attended one year at Paris Junior Collge on a drafting scholarship.
On January 25, 1986, I married Tammy Funderburg. On June 30th, 1986, I began employment at the city of Bogata. I’ve worked for the city for over 30 years. I have 3 children, Lance Bush, Holli Morris & Christian Bush.
In 2008, Lance opened Kravened Kustoms and asked me to be a partner, so I semi-retired from the city to chase the dream of a father and son business. After several years of doing custom paint and body, we decided to chase a rust dream.
In November of 2017, Lance, Wesley Blalock and myself started the YouTube series called Turnin Rust. The rest is history.
As a kid, my dad always tinkered with cars & trucks. The earliest I can remember really falling in love with vehicles was around the age of 14 when my dad started working on a 1967 mustang. From there on I was hooked, my first official car was a 2005 Ford Mustang, and as I got older, I worked my way up to a 2013 Ford Mustang GT.
Growing up i always found myself at local car shows, or even bigger events in the DFW area such as the Cars & Coffee in Plano, Tx. Where you’d get a real taste of the exotics and high-end cars.
About the same time I started attending these shows, I grew a interest in a YouTuber named “Krispy Media”, He specializes in cinematic automotive videos for mostly imports. This grew my curiosity & inspiration behind getting behind a camera as these videos seemed like something I’d really enjoy creating, and i already had a background in video editing from making gaming videos in my younger years.
At the time, I was working for car dealership called Car-Mart, barely making enough money to invest in anything other than making ends meet. I would borrow a camera from my brother, and a drone from a close friend on the weekends, and practically beg people to let me feature their car. I did a few videos for some close friends, and grew quite the attention on social media. Quickly, my sister noticed my unique editing & suggested i should get into the wedding industry.
From there on, my career in videography was sparked in mid 2017 as I started shooting weddings & growing a fast clientele. Though, my passion wasn’t fully fulfilled through weddings, I picked up a camera for the sole reason to shoot vehicles, and create cinematic videos.
On August 4th, 2017 Lance Bush reached out to my business page on Facebook, and grew interest in my videography through a video i did covering my dad’s 1953 Ford F100. He originally asked if i could shoot a inventory video, that he could use to help sell his vehicles on ebay & social media. Once i met with Lance & Wyatt at their shop, i instantly knew there was something special about these two, and what they are doing.
The next day, I pitched Lance the idea of starting a YouTube series revolving around what they do on a daily basis from picking cars, restoring them, and showcasing their work to the world online. Oddly enough, Lance agreed without knowing much about me. And before any of us knew what we were doing, from me never directing anything, and lance never being on camera. We were filming our first Episode “Chase. N. Honey.” on September 6th, 2017.
We talked many names about the show, the Bush Brothers, Kravened Kustoms, Patina Turners, and finally settled on “Turnin Rust”. (Phew).
From there on, we released our first episode to the world November 26th, 2017. Not only did i find my true passion, but I grew two really great friends & brothers.
